Carnival is a cultural celebration that takes place throughout the Caribbean each year, and it has been transported to North America and Europe through the migration of Caribbean peoples. Philadelphia began holding carnival parades in the late 1990s attracting thousands to the city each year. Traditionally the event has taken place on Father’s Day Weekend.
